Are Freezer Operating Electricity Bills Sky-high? SuperVIG® Weiaiji Insulated Door System Reduces Edge Heat Loss

“Procurement departments look at the unit price, while operations departments look at electricity bills.” This is the contradiction faced by many procurement directors of commercial cold chain equipment. Traditional freezer doors have a low initial procurement cost, but due to poor thermal insulation performance and the need for continuous electric heating to prevent condensation, later electricity bills eat into profits like flowing water. How can we break the “cheap to buy, expensive to use” trap of hidden costs?

Hidden Costs: Continuous Energy Loss Caused by the Thermal Bridge Effect

Traditional freezer door frames mostly use aluminum alloy profiles, and the thermal conductivity of aluminum is as high as 237 W/(m·K). This means that cooling capacity flows out continuously along the metal frame, forming a obvious “thermal bridge effect.” To prevent edge condensation, the equipment must turn on heating wires. Between the cooling and heating, energy consumption is doubly amplified.

The SuperVIG® Weiaiji energy-saving insulated door system uses glass-fiber reinforced polyurethane composite profiles with a thermal conductivity of only 0.114-0.34 W/(m·K), which is less than 1/700th of that of aluminum profiles. It cuts off edge heat flow from the material source, making it possible to lock in the cold.

Quantitative Comparison of Life Cycle Cost (LCC)

Let’s do the math using data. Based on a standard door size of 1800×600mm, we calculated the thermal performance of door systems with different configurations:

The comprehensive heat transfer coefficient of the traditional scheme is as high as 2.82 W/(m²·K), with condensation occurring at the outer frame and glass boundaries, requiring reliance on continuous electric heating. In contrast, using the SuperVIG® Weiaiji scheme, the comprehensive heat transfer coefficient drops to 0.52 W/(m²·K), with no condensation at 20°C and 65% humidity. A reduction of the comprehensive heat transfer coefficient by over 80% means a significant drop in compressor load and a marked reduction in daily electricity consumption for maintaining cold chain temperatures.

For purchasers and users, SuperVIG® Weiaiji provides a decision-making solution based on Life Cycle Cost. Lower heat transfer coefficients, lower operating electricity bills, a service life of over 20 years, and less frequent after-sales maintenance. This is not just an upgrade of equipment parameters, but a reduction in real, visible electricity bills.
