Article 8: Process Tolerance Sealing Process Tolerance —SuperVIG® Vacuum Insulated Glass Delivers Stable, Reliable Quality in Mass Production

SuperVIG® vacuum insulated glass delivers stable, reliable quality in mass production by using innovative stable sealing process.

  1. Silver-Paste Sealing: A Narrow Process Window with Little Margin for Error

In silver-paste edge sealing, low-temperature alloy solder bonds to a silver-paste transition layer, requiring extremely precise temperature control:

l Temperature too high or heating too long: the alloy solder erodes through the silver-paste layer to the glass substrate, causing bond failure;

l Temperature too low or heating too short: the alloy solder does not fully react with the silver-paste layer, resulting in insufficient bond strength.

This “just-right” temperature window is extremely narrow. In mass production, furnace temperature uniformity, conveyor speed, product size, and other factors can affect the actual bonding temperature, making consistency difficult to maintain.

  1. All-Metal Sealing: Stronger Chemical Bonds

The core metallurgical reaction in the SuperVIG® all-metal sealing process behaves very differently:

As temperature and bonding time increase, the reaction penetrates deeper and the bond becomes stronger.

This means small process-temperature fluctuations do not cause bond failure. They only affect bond depth—and a deeper bond means a stronger joint.

This positive process tolerance gives all-metal sealing greater stability and consistency in mass production, supporting higher and more reliable yields.

  1. A Stable Process Produces a Stable Product

A building project may require hundreds or even thousands of vacuum insulated glazing units.

Consistent performance across every unit directly affects the building’s overall energy efficiency and user experience.

SuperVIG® chose all-metal sealing not only because it performs well in the lab, but because it remains reliable in mass production and delivers stable, consistent performance for every project.

Reliable processes make reliable products. SuperVIG® controls quality at the source to ensure consistent performance in every vacuum insulated glazing unit.
